In Vino Veritas

In truth, wine.

Another great read from the Academie Du Vin Library. A brief collection of articles all about wine. I found the chapter on Wine as Art the most interesting.

The Oxford dictionary defines the term “art,” as: the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power.

For years I have said, wine is living art – as a living entity, wine is born, evolves and then decays. As a piece of art, throughout its life, great wine becomes more beautiful and appreciates both in impact and value.

It was interesting that most winemakers, when asked, did not see wine as art. To many, wine is an agricultural product that is about cultural and sustenance. To a few, though, wine is artisanal, an expression of love and devotion, a crafted work filled with emotion. No matter what your perspective, it is clear to many an author that there is truth in wine (and so very much more)!
